A Day of Art, Aviation, and Authentic Warmth in Montreal
Today was one of those travel days that leaves you both exhausted and completely fulfilled — a perfect balance of history, art, and human connection.
The morning began with a short drive out of the city to the Montreal Aviation Museum, a hidden gem tucked away on the edge of town. Though small, it’s filled with genuine passion — the kind of place built and sustained by people who simply love aviation. I had the chance to meet the team working on the F-104 restoration project, and they were an incredible group to chat with. There’s something special about seeing a historic jet being brought back to life by enthusiasts who care about every rivet, every story behind the machine.
Back in the heart of Montreal, I made a stop at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Currently operating out of a temporary location, the collection felt modest — more of a preview of what’s to come once they return to their permanent space. Even so, there were a few thought-provoking installations that reminded me how contemporary art often challenges not just what we see, but how we interpret it.
The day’s highlight, without question, was the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA). It’s one of the most remarkable museums I’ve visited — not just in Canada, but anywhere. The diversity of exhibits is astounding: from classical European works to bold modern installations, intricate sculptures, and Indigenous art that roots you in the history of this land. Every gallery felt like stepping into a new world.
Before leaving, I stopped by their café for a quiet moment — a buttery croissant, a perfectly balanced cappuccino, and a few minutes of reflection on how art connects people across generations and cultures.
As I walked back through the city streets, I was reminded of what makes Canada such a special place. Whether in Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal, the people are consistently warm, welcoming, and genuine. In a time when so much of the world feels divided — with political noise and tariff tensions casting long shadows — the kindness and openness of Canadians stand out as something truly worth preserving.
Today was more than a day of museums — it was a reminder of the beauty of curiosity, creativity, and human warmth.
