Vintage twin-engine aircraft on display inside a museum hangar with informational placard nearby.

Last week’s visit to the Lone Star Flight Museum felt less like walking through a museum and more like stepping onto an active timeline of aviation. Located at Ellington Airport in Houston, this isn’t just a static collection of airplanes—it’s a living, breathing tribute to flight, where many of the aircraft still take to the skies.

Unlike most aviation museums, the Lone Star Flight Museum stands apart because its aircraft aren’t just preserved—they’re operational. The collection includes over 40 historically significant aircraft, many of which date back to World War II and earlier eras of aviation innovation.
