I'm excited to share that I've added two more charming Florida towns to my ongoing photobook project—Downtown Sanford and Downtown DeLand!


Each visit brings a new rhythm, a new story, and a fresh set of images that capture the unique soul of these small-town gems. From brick-lined streets to historic storefronts, both Sanford and DeLand offered the kind of character and warmth that make this journey so rewarding.

Deland, Florida

Founded in 1876 by baking soda magnate Henry A. DeLand, this charming town was envisioned as the "Athens of Florida"—a center of culture and education. True to that vision, it became home to Stetson University, the state’s oldest private college. Downtown DeLand boasts beautifully preserved architecture and a deep-rooted cultural identity that blends Southern hospitality with intellectual spirit. Its thriving art scene and small businesses help keep history alive amid modern growth.

Sanford, Florida

Nestled along the southern shore of Lake Monroe, Sanford began as a transportation hub in the late 1800s, thanks to its strategic location along the St. Johns River and the South Florida Railroad. Known as the “Historic Waterfront Gateway City,” Sanford played a major role in Florida’s citrus industry and was once the celery capital of the U.S. Today, its brick-lined streets and well-preserved architecture reflect its rich past, while its revitalized downtown buzzes with breweries, cafes, and a strong sense of community.
