I made a quick trip out to Skydive DeLand today and caught some amazing moments behind the lens—jumpers drifting down under vibrant canopies, the hum of the planes overhead, and that buzz of adrenaline you only get at a drop zone.
DeLand’s not just another airport—it’s the place for skydivers. People have been jumping here for decades, and it’s become one of the most well-known spots in the world for training, gear development, and just straight-up loving the sport. There's a special energy in the air. You feel it the moment you walk onto the field.
And if you're hungry after all that excitement? Do yourself a favor and stop by the Airport Restaurant & Gin Mill right on the field. Super casual, nothing fancy—just solid food, good people, and an awesome view of the runway and landing zone. I grabbed a burger and sat out back watching jumpers come in under canopy. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
If you're ever in the DeLand area—whether you're a skydiver, photographer, or just curious—this little corner of Florida aviation is 100% worth the visit.
