There’s something magical about summer in the Midwest—and you’ll find it floating right along the Milwaukee River.


Yesterday, I parked myself downtown with camera in hand and found myself immersed in the vibrant world of boaters, families, and friends soaking up the sunshine. Laughter echoed off the water, waves of music rolled from one boat to another, and a friendly wave—or beer cheers—was never far away.


What stood out most wasn’t just the beautiful boats or perfect weather, but the incredible comradery. The river was alive with a shared sense of joy, community, and pure summer spirit. Whether it was families tubing with the kids, friends grilling onboard, or strangers exchanging smiles from dock to deck, the boating scene in Milwaukee is more than a pastime—it’s a celebration of connection.


Here’s to Midwestern summers: where the sun is warm, the vibes are high, and everyone’s welcome on the water.
